The River Kentucky began on November 1, 2020, around a backyard bonfire at the Eberhart home in Nicholasville, KY. Andrew had shared with Pastor Paul Bishop his desire to preach again, and Pastor Paul confirmed that God was leading The River to plant a church in Kentucky—a call they had sensed years earlier.
April had spent over seven years at The River Valley Life Center in her hometown of Lancaster, Ohio, walking through her own healing and ministry journey before marrying Andrew and moving to Kentucky.
Feeling called to ministry as a lifestyle, Andrew and April launched a Sunday worship service in April 2022. For nearly four years, the church met in their coffee shop, before moving into their current church space.
The heart and vision for The River Kentucky is to be a place of healing, growth, and deepening in the Lord—a space where people can learn, be formed, and grow spiritually in their faith. We focus on our people and community here in Nicholasville, KY, nurturing an environment where authentic worship and spiritual formation go hand in hand.
We long to be a place where people can come as they are, encounter Jesus, and be shaped by His love and truth. At The River Kentucky Church, we are imperfect people on a faith journey, learning to follow Jesus together. We love Him, we don’t try to be religious (and we don’t expect you to be!), and we believe spiritual growth happens through everyday life, spiritual practices, and friendship.
We are a small, hope-filled, love-filled, Jesus-celebrating group of people, and we’d love for you to join us on this journey of faith and formation.
Andrew and April Eberhart are the pastors of The River Kentucky, living in Nicholasville with their three youngest children.
Andrew earned his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2016. His journey with Jesus began in 2005, when God radically transformed his life—from a path marked by addiction and danger in Atlanta to a life filled with purpose and hope. Since then, he has served in many areas of ministry, including worship, pastoring, and teaching men in a drug rehab program. Andrew feels deeply grateful to follow God’s call to preach and teach at The River Kentucky, walking this journey of faith alongside his wife and best friend, April.
April has been involved in missions and ministry since her teenage years, serving both locally and internationally in India, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia with youth and health care teams. After a season of burnout and trauma, she encountered the Jesus of grace—not religion—at The River Valley Life Center in Ohio, which transformed her approach to life and ministry. April is passionate about helping people experience freedom, healing, and their identity in Christ, and she is a proud mama of three littles who constantly teach her new things about life and love.
